How to Upload Google Docs from the Google Docs App as an Assignment on the Canvas App on Your Phone

You must have the Canvas app, Google Docs app, and the Google Drive apps on your phone. Download those from your App Store or Google Play Store.
Login to all of those apps using your school email address and school password.
Create and save your file in Google Docs (you can do this in the Google Docs app on your phone or a computer).
Go back to the Canvas app and click on your class and "Assignments" and then the assignment title that is due.
Then, click the "Submissions" tab.
Then, click "Turn in".
Then, open the Google Docs app and open the file you saved. Click the three dots on the top-right of the file and chose "Share and Export" and then choose "Save as Word (.docx).
Then, click the three dots again on the top-right of the file and choose "Send a copy" and then choose "Import with Canvas".
This should open the Canvas app where a box should pop up saying "File Received". Click "Ok".
Then, swipe to the left to find the file and click the upload icon (box with arrow in it) on the bottom.
This will highlight the file and then you can click "Submit" in the top-right.
Double check that it has turned in by checking your school email. Canvas will send you a receipt every time you submit an assignment.

How to do Discussion Posts using the Canvas App on Your Phone

Open the Canvas app and click on "Discussions" and then title of the discussion assigned.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!! then Click on the arrow on the top-left and type in your response.
After you submit your response, go back to the instructions and scroll to the bottom of them. You should see others' posts where you can reply to them.

What to do if you can't login to Canvas on a Computer

First, make sure you are using the correct username and password.
The username is your school email address which is first.last@stu.rockcastle.kyschools.us
The password should be your school rcs password that you use to login to the computers at school.
If these don't work, you can try to reset your password by clicking on the link on the login page for Canvas. Once you do that, you must check your school email for the reset code. When you get the code/link, make sure you reset your password to your rcs password so this doesn't happen again. :)
If you try to reset the password and Canvas tells you that there is no user account for that email, there is a chance that you've never set up a Canvas account or that you set it up incorrectly in the first place. THIS IS REALLY RARE so make sure you didn't just type the email address in wrong.
If you determine still are having problems, email me at herbie.brock@rockcastle.kyschools.us

Note Taking Tips

Check out this handout that I passed out in class and you lost. It can help you take better notes in less time. You really shouldn't have lost it, but you're lucky your teacher had the foresight to post it on here so you can still get better at taking notes. What a guy!

How to setup School Email on your Phones/Tablets/iPods

All iOS devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad:

Set up an Office 365 for business or other Exchange-based email account
  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts > Add account > Email.

  2. In the Add Account page, tap  Exchange.

  3. Enter your full email address, for example george.washington@stu.rockcastle.kyschools.us, and your password, and then tap Next.

If the device can't find your settings, you need to add them. If you have an Office 365 Exchanged email account in Server, enter outlook.office365.com, and then add your Username and Password. This is the same username and password you use for work or school.

  4. By default, Mail, Contacts, and Calendar information are synchronized. Tap Save.

  5. If you're prompted to create a passcode, tap Continue and type a numeric passcode. If you're prompted and don't set up a passcode, you can't view this account on your device. You can also set up a passcode later in your settings.

NOTE   If you get a time-out message, your password or other information might be incorrect. Retype the information, and then try again.

NOTE    You might need to need to wait ten to fifteen minutes after you set up your account before you can send or receive email.

Android devices:

    • Domain\Username Type your full email address in this box, for example, tony@contoso.com. If Domain and Username are separate text boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty, and type your full email address in the Username box.

    • Password Use the password that you use to access your account.

    • Exchange Server Use the address of your Exchange server. If you aren't sure what your server address is, check with your administrator. The server for Office 365 for business is outlook.office365.com.
