I was born in Prescott Arizona and spent my first few years in the lovely Death Valley; only someone born there would think it was lovely; it’s really a dry barren wasteland. My family lived in Montana for a short time and then relocated to the Couer d Lane Indian Reservation. Life on the Rez was less than nice to say the least; however, it is full of culture and interesting people.
My first degree took a grand total of 10 years to accomplish. I started college in Spokane Washington where I lived for several years; it’s 6 hours from Seattle. Working full time, taking care of my children, and going to school left little free time. I relocated to a town in North Idaho called Nordman and worked at a 4 star resort (one of the more fun jobs I’ve had). Nordman has a population of 3, a lake you can drink out of, a tropical pine forest, and is 30 miles south of Canada. You can sometimes see the Northern Lights there, and there are a lot of moose. Then I moved to Kentucky where I met the love of my life, my husband James. We have 5 beautiful and rowdy children together.
Kentucky is by far the best place I have ever lived. And RCHS is hands down the best people I could imagine working with (yes that means you, my students, who are the coolest people in the building).
I am still in school getting a Masters in history. So I do homework every night just like you. My favorite hobby is reading. I feel that the person who dies with the most knowledge wins! I used to sword fight but gave that up for belly dancing. I used to hunt when I was younger. Unfortunately I don’t have time to now. I also love to cook and grill. Out of all of the things I like to do they pale in comparison to spending time with my family.
Some of my favorite TV shows are Bones and The X Files. I am one of the few people you will meet that embraces both Star Trek and Star Wars. I like all kinds of music. Some of my current fav bands are Drop Kick Murphy’s, Rage Against the Machine, and The Avette Brothers. Of course nothing can touch some Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker.
Later I will introduce you too some of my cool, dead, friends; Marie Antoinette, Henry VIII and his 6 wives, and Ivan the Awesome.
